Glad to back to oils and I am very happy with the first stage of my latest Blue Ridge painting! I love oil paint the best, but I get more uptight when I paint in this medium. A lot of painters consider watercolors to be the most difficult painting medium. I can’t agree. I consider oils to be the most difficult, but I love it!

When Clyde and I take walks at Wildwood Park the towhees are always yelling “drink your tea” over and over again. It is a pretty bird call but it can get monotonous. The other day I read in a blog that drinking tea actually fights the bacteria in our mouths which, of course, helps with tooth decay.
When I told Clyde that, he had a whacko theory as to why towhees keep on telling us to drink our tea. Maybe they once had teeth and are now telling everybody to drink their tea or else! Now that’s a weird one, even for The Bird Man!

Rain, rain go away! We are having a monsoon right now in Radford. My Line Dance troupe had to cancel a performance last night. I was looking forward to that one since it is at the old train station in Pulaski and there are vendors that I usually buy from while we are waiting to perform. Oh well. I think most of the vendors cancelled too. We need the rain but we don’t need a weekly deluge. Hope to see the sun soon!
I have decided to take my head out of the sand and interact more with other artists so here is a link to an interesting article on an artist that is really into brushwork like I am! Check out the great artwork of Winston Torr!
Sometimes it really is the little things that are super irritating. I am trying to compose a piano piece just for fun. I have been playing the piano since I was twelve and it never occurred to me to write music but I thought I would give it a try. I can’t believe how slow it is going. I have always been good at reading music but now that I am trying to write it I can’t remember all the different symbols for the notes in the bass which is crazy, since I read them every day without any problem.
Also, my pencil keeps breaking and our electric sharpener is jammed and the little plastic one just keeps breaking the pencil. One of these days I will finish my amateur attempt at composing and get it copyrighted. I’m sure someone will want to steal it. I would put LOL but Clyde thinks it is a nice piece of music so you never know. He has spent quite a bit of time studying music and has written a few pieces that I like.
I saw a cute pencil joke the other day. Knock knock, Who’s there? A pencil. A pencil who? Never mind. It’s pointless.
One car down. Our Prius gave Clyde a nasty note about break fluid. Needless to say, the repair people towed it. Can’t take a chance on the breaks going out. Hopefully the other car will keep going. They are both very old. We are waiting for one to croak and then get a new one. Oh well. As my grandmother would say, “Such is life”.
I mentioned to Clyde that he knows about Murphy’s Law.
He said he wasn’t even sure if he knew Murphy.
Anyway, of course he knows about Murphy’s Law. I’ll bet just about everyone has heard one of his laws that states, “A good deed never goes unpunished.”
Well, today I added another one. I have been working hard to correct my bad habit of dropping things. Last week I pulled a muscle in my back and it is still sore. Since that happened I can’t believe how many things I have dropped.
So, new law. The probability of dropping something sky rockets when your back hurts.
Beautiful, cold day! I would love to take a walk but it is too cold for me. Guess I will get on over to the Rec Center and use the walking path. That is always a lot of fun since it overlooks the basket ball court. I like to watch the kids play!
Check out one of my favorite florals below that is also on Special until Wednesday for a large canvas print!

I am very happy with the second stage of Lincoln. It may be the last stage. I will spend some time tweaking it but it probably won’t change that much. I have include both stages here and both stages are on my website for prints.
As I have mentioned before many times, I am not that great with computers but I am determined to learn and improve my skills. There are a number of things I can do to increase my audience for my artwork but when I try, I seem to go around in circles asking the computer and others how to do things that seem so simple.
Since Clyde has a computer job I ask him for advice. Right now I am trying to improve my SEO. When I asked him to help me with my SEO he said why do you need short eared owls?
Okay, what else would a bird watcher that does not have a website, is not on twitter, facebook, pinterest, etc. say? I had that one coming.
I am taking a short break from my Skyline Beauty series to work on a portrait of Abraham Lincoln. I like to make portraits of people I admire and hope to paint many more. I am real pleased with the first stage of this painting! It will be in color but the first black and white stage is captivating!
As I said last time, we really are wrapped up in our computers these days but when the first thing you hear when you wake up is a sleep commercial character saying she needs an answer to her email before you wake up, you know things are getting out of hand!
My son turns on the TV in the morning and that line greeted me as I got out of bed. Yikes!!!!
I told Clyde and he said it is probably in his spam folder and he ignored it. Good cover!
I saw this joke somewhere online. Sleep is for people without the internet. Oh no!!!!!! Time to step away from the computer!
I am so pleased to sell prints from completely different galleries on my website! A great West Virginia patron bought a print of The Lodge at Peaks of Otter and a great Charlotte NC patron bought a print of Charlotte Flip! All of my different directions are getting around!
