I have been dragging for the last few days. It is so hard to lose a parent, especially a mother that was so supportive of what I do. So many kids are discouraged from becoming artists due to the financial considerations but I am glad my mother always encouraged me and I know she honestly liked my work. She was incapable of lying and if she did not like my work she would have said so in a polite way.
She was also thrilled that I took up the piano and am now paid to play. She said my grandmother that attended Peabody Conservatory would be so proud. Artists and musicians tend to run in families. I am glad I was born into one of those families.
I have worked very hard at both my painting skill and my pianos skills but I do think some people are born with a natural artistic aptitude that has to be developed.
Condolences for your mother death, mine left many years ago and was also my art’s greatest fan and supporter
