mothersday (2)

Mother’s Day Gift  Original  30″ x 20″   Pastel Painting   $1230

Prints on Paper, Canvas, Metal, Greeting Cards, Pillows, !phone and galaxy phone Cases Available at  KENDALL KESSLER ART

Mothers Day Gift is a still life I did a number of years ago. My parents sent me flowers on Mothers Day which I thought was odd until I read the card. They wrote that since their mothers were both deceased they decided to honor me that year. I turned their beautiful gift into  a striking still life. This is one Mothers Day Gift I will never forget. What a wonderful way to honor a child that has become a mother. I especially like the warm/cool color contrast due to the morning light effect

460big (1)

460  Original  11″ x 14″ Oil  Painting $313

Prints on Paper, Canvas, Metal, Greeting Cards, Pillows, !phone and galaxy phone Cases Available at  KENDALL KESSLER ART

460 is a painting of a stretch of route 460 on the way into Christiansburg, VA. I am especially pleased with the complexity of color and textural quality in this piece. The wildflowers in the front frame the scene beautifully. The painting is in a solid wood molded frame. This is a low-level impasto painting and is colorful and peaceful.

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

Clyde is still ill from a bug that is going around but that doesn’t stop him from cracking me up with his humor.  He certainly married his best audience.  I love his jokes and word play.

Yesterday we were talking about all the super heroes on TV and in movies these days.  They certainly are taking over the media.  He is not happy with how some of them are portrayed.  He says some of their powers have been wimped down.

For example, the TV Smallville Superboy is actually afraid to fly.  Clyde can’t understand that.  What’s the problem?  If he falls he will just blast a hole through to China, drink some tea, and fly home.

  1. The gardens are spectacular! I particularly like the way you paint your trees. I really struggle to draw or paint trees. I’ve just been sketching a large oak out front but I felt out of my comfort zone. The Mother’s Day Gift painting is gorgeous. How lovely to have turned such a memorable gift and sentiment into a painting.
